Thai Police catch Fake George Clooney Scammer

After years of escape, an Italian, posing as Hollywood star George Clooney and making a big profit, has been captured in Thailand. 58-year-old Francesco Galdelli was arrested on Saturday in a house in Pattaya with his 45-year-old wife Vanja Goffi, the Thai police said: The success of the investigation was the result of cooperation between the Thai and Italian authorities.

According to investigators, Galdelli admitted that he had turned out to be George Clooney and sold a clothes-line on the internet under his name. In Italy, Galdelli and Goffi are charged with other offenses such as the online sale of counterfeit Rolex watches. In Thailand, Galdelli and Goffi have lived since 2014. They would never have left the country, police said. Her very luxury property was overseen by investigators, most notably a drone.
