Maw says…..Shane is a slow-moving movie and it takes a while to pick up. This is a western movie that takes place in Wyoming. I enjoyed the little boy so much and he was quite young in this movie. I looked for the little boy in other movies, his name is Brandon De Wild. Shane is played by Alan Ladd. He is apparently running away from a life that he wants to forget. He meets up with a homesteader family named the Starrett’s. He decides to state at the home and becomes a ranch hand and everyone grows to love him including Joe Starrett’s wife who apparently has strong feelings for him. The Starrett’s family and about 10 other families are trying to keep the rights to their land and farms. They are all bullied by a cattle rancher who is trying to destroy their chances of survival this frontier land. Shane jumps into action and saves the day but having to use his talents from his past gun slinging days.

Paw says….Well this was our first western in our new endeavor to watch all the best movies from days gone by. I have never liked or even watched westerns. Then it occurred to me westerns and romances where the main themes in those days, so if I am going to watch the oldies, I’m going to have to watch a lot of romances and westerns. On with the show. I’m thinking this was not a hard-core western because there just wasn’t much gun shooting. I like it because it showed the struggle between the cattle ranchers and the newly arriving farmers.
