Liam Neeson is one of the actors who has most changed his career as an actor, for years he devoted himself expressly to participate in dramatic films with lots of tones of intensity where the stories stood out for how incredibly well done they were. However in recent years this actor has basically focused on acting in action movies with somewhat superficial plots and that tend to resemble each other, and it's not that I complain because in general they are entertaining movies but for God's sake! Enough with movies where he has to rescue or revenge someone in his family.

Cold Pursuit is a film that introduces us to a Liam Neeson living a full life in a Colorado town where he works clearing snow from the streets and highways, a simple man with a wife and a son; in short a completely normal man who is loved and known by most people in the town who believe he is incapable of doing bad things. However, everything changes when his son is apparently murdered by members of the local mafia after being involved in murky things related to drug trafficking, a fact that greatly affects the character of Liam Neeson, to the point of breaking it emotionally and psychologically transforming it into someone completely different, if from here begins the hunt for Neeson, what a novelty!

As in other Liam Neeson movies, this will lead us on a path of revenge where we will discover all sorts of things that led to the death of his son, things that will change him and make him a more ruthless man. Little by little we will see how Neeson's character undertakes a ruthless hunt to find all those who participated in the death of his son, however this time the deaths will not be so easy to get because here Neeson is nothing more than a simple worker, so we will see the different ways so particular that this man finds to murder the culprits of the death of his son. One by one Neeson will find and kill those who somehow participated in the murder of his son, killing them ruthlessly and throwing them into a river so that no one will ever find them, with the passing of the minutes we will see the change of a simple man who cares nothing more than to do justice for his son.

While the film is nothing original I somehow get to like it to some point because it showed me how someone can change and become a killer through the pain of losing a loved one. However, what I do not tolerate of this film is that final subplot where they decided to include in all the hunting plot a local Indian tribe (also mafia) that served as another enemy for the local mafia, ie basically at a certain point in the story we have a fight in 3 sides, on the one hand Neeson hunting the local mafia, on the other hand the local mafia looking for who is killing their people and on the other hand the Native tribe also wanting to hurt the local mafia. All that makes the story too complicated and tedious because it doesn't make it stand out more and instead makes it slower; not to mention the fact that they include the kidnapping of a special child that has no impact on the plot.

Definitely this is a movie that at times is very entertaining but for others is super boring, no doubt a little original film that fails to impact at any time with its plot already worn, a plot that has not only been used but an actor who has already done dozens of times this same character, so if it's like watching a recreation of Taken but this time in Colorado. That if the management of the scenes and action scenes is very good, nothing looks totally false, everything is placed in a very good way to create that apparent atmosphere of revenge that the truth never feels at all. For me this is a simple attempt to recreate something that worked in the past but at this point no longer represents anything interesting or exciting.
