The Italian Job

The Orignal.

The movie starts with a decent pace and doesn't really slow down. Michael Caine plays the role of Charlie very well, he played it with a certain style. The movie showcases the Mini very well. I know I thought the Mini was a cool little car after the movie. I wasn't overly keen on the ending, they should have gotten away with it.

There isn't a lot this movie, it is a good movie to sit back and enjoy the car scenes and action sequences, not really a lot of thinking to be done on this one.

We have ex-con Charlie, he has a new job one that he has taken over. His friend started the job in Italy without involving the local Mafia. They weren't very happy so no he is going to finish it.

Charlie like everyone also has a boss who although still being in prison seems to run all the British organised crime and is funding Charlie's venture. Partly because it is now England vs Italy, and the Italians need to learn that they can't get away with what they did.

The job involves heisting some gold from the Italian town of Torino, it has small lane ways, narrow streets and an old traffic management system. This means they need something small and agile to get away while using something large to bring everyone else to a standstill. They choose Minis as there getaway vehicles, and a few Jaguars to stop the rest of the traffic.

One of my all time favs being a huge mini fan helps.

It is an excellent movie, the remake is also not bad.
