Jackie and Chris having fun.

Nothing really new in terms of plot, it basically breaks down as another odd couple/mismatched partners/opposites. One dedicated to procedure and everything by the book, the other not so much. Put that to one side and you have Jackie Chan opposite Chris Tucker, both of whom aren't taking things too seriously.

Throw in Jackie's action comedy style along with Chris' fast talking, you end up with a cross between an action movie, a comedy and a crime movie. Just don't expect anything that will require any in depth analysis of the story.

Another clash of styles and cultures as we have one from Hong Kong, and one from Los Angeles. The are at first reluctant to work with each other but soon realise that they must in order to solve the crime.

We have the Chinese Consul's daughter being kidnapped and the Consul makes a call to his police inspector friend in Hong Kong whom comes out to America on the next flight. The FBI don't want anyone messing with the investigation and hence assign a local LA cop to keep the guy from Hong Kong busy. The common ground between the twp cops is that they both want to save the girl.
