Poetic Film Review: The Time Machine (2002)

In the depths of time, a machine does roam,
A tale of love, loss, and the unknown.
From the pages of Wells, a story retold,
In Hollywood's grasp, a new version to behold.

Professor Hartdegen, a man of science and grief,
Seeks to rewrite history, to find relief.
But time is cruel, and fate is unkind,
As he journeys through the ages, seeking to rewind.

In a future far, where humanity is split,
Between Eloi and Morlocs, a divide that won't quit.
With love and danger, our hero must face,
A world so different, a future displaced.

But alas, the film falls short of its mark,
With cliches and changes that leave a spark.
Despite the talent, the effects, and the plot,
The Time Machine of 2002, is a forgettable slot.

A disappointment, a missed opportunity,
To capture the essence of Wells' pure ingenuity.
So let us remember the classics of old,
And leave this version, in the depths of the fold.
