When in Hollywood's grasp, do as they do,
A principle that many filmmakers pursue,
The Oscars beckon, a gateway to fame,
Their films mirror mainstream, except for the name.

The Chorus, a French drama, a contender for the prize,
A tale of redemption, of troubled eyes,
A teacher's journey, through trials and strife,
Transforming lives through art and music's life.

In 1949, a reform school's dark hall,
Where delinquent boys, their futures fall,
Enter Clement Mathieu, a failed musician's plight,
With unconventional methods, he brings hope to light.

Through song and harmony, he conquers hearts and minds,
A boys' choir formed, their voices intertwined,
The authoritarian headmaster's rule, a threat,
Mathieu's approach, a testament to humanity's debt.

With attention to detail, Barratier directs with care,
A formulaic plot, but standout performances there,
Gerard Jugnot's portrayal, a touch of reality adds,
The balance of humor and pathos, the film's steady cadence.

The soundtrack, while not groundbreaking, complements the tale,
The boys' choir's voice, a fitting soundtrack for the trial,
The Chorus, a pleasant cinematic experience, it's true,
A film that resonates, despite the predictable few.
