Poetic Film Review: Taxi (1996)

In Madrid's streets, a taxi roams,
With secrets lurking in its homes.
A young woman, lost and confused,
Joins the Family, feeling used.

Dark forces hide beneath the guise,
Of seemingly ordinary guys.
As Paz unravels the truth,
She's met with danger and ruth.

The legacy of Scorsese's tale,
Inspires Saura to unveil,
The fear of fascism's grip,
In modern Spain, a sinking ship.

But Taxi falls short of its goal,
A pretentious drama takes its toll.
With good acting and solid direction,
It lacks the thrill, the tension.

Despite the flaws, it's still worth a watch,
For those who seek a different notch.
But for those expecting a masterpiece,
Taxi may not bring them peace.

So drive on, through Madrid's night,
With Paz and Family in sight.
A film that tries to break new ground,
But falls short, lost and unbound.
