Poetic Film Review: Serendipity (2001)

In the world of romantic comedy, a tale is told
Of Jonathan and Sara, their love unfolds
A chance encounter in a department store
Leads to a connection they can't ignore

With partners already in tow
They decide to let fate show
A bill and a book, their names inscribed
A test to see if destiny will abide

Seven years pass, their lives have changed
But memories of each other remain
Strange coincidences and events align
Prompting them to search, to see a sign

But alas, the script falls flat
Predictable scenes, music falls flat
Cusack and Beckinsale lack the spark
In a film that misses the mark

A sterile production, lacking in charm
A rom-com that causes no harm
For those who enjoy a cheesy flick
Serendipity may do the trick

But for those seeking depth and wit
This film may not be a perfect fit
A rating of two out of ten
For a story that falls flat in the end
