Poetic Film Review: Ray (2004)
In Hollywood's halls of fame,
Biopics of legends reign supreme,
A trend that's surged in recent years,
As studios seek the Oscar's golden tears.
Ray, the film, a shining star,
A biopic of the soulful Ray Charles, so far,
Directed by Hackford, with skill and care,
It tells the tale of Charles, his life and rare.
From childhood's trials to fame's allure,
The film unfolds, with passion's pure,
We see the struggles, the hits, the fall,
And Charles' redemption, standing tall.
A textbook example, some might say,
Of a biopic crafted to win the day,
Emphasis on character, not plot,
The actor's task, to bring the legend to the lot.
Jamie Foxx, a formidable force,
His portrayal, a triumph, of course,
An Oscar win, for his efforts, justly earned,
The film's success, his performance, so earnest.
Not perfect, some might argue, yes,
But still, a worthy watch, for all to see,
A tale of music, struggle, and life,
A biopic that captures Ray Charles' strife.
So recommend it, we must, for fans of soul,
And for those who appreciate the biopic's goal,
A well-crafted story, great performances too,
A nostalgic trip, to the life and music of Ray Charles, anew.
