Poetic Film Review: 'R Xmas (2001)

In the heart of New York City, during Christmas time,
A tale of crime and corruption unfolds in its prime.
A Puerto Rican man and his glamorous wife,
Living a life of luxury, filled with strife.

Their facade of wealth hides a dark truth,
Involvement in heroin, a dangerous sleuth.
When the husband is abducted, the wife must act fast,
Gathering money and drugs to save him at last.

Directed by Abel Ferrara, known for his gritty style,
'R Xmas' delves into the darkness with a smile.
Despite the slow pace and uninspired scenes,
The acting shines through, breaking the screen.

Drea De Matteo and Lilo Brancato Jr.,
Bring depth and emotion, making the story stir.
While the film may not be a complete success,
It still captures the essence of a Christmas mess.

A reminder that beneath the holiday cheer,
Lies a world of crime and fear.
'R Xmas' may not be a holiday delight,
But it sheds light on a different kind of fight.
