Poetic Film Review: Life as a House (2001)

In a house old and crumbling, a man finds his fate,
Diagnosed with a disease, his life left to contemplate.
With a son lost in darkness, seeking solace in vice,
They embark on a journey, to build a house of paradise.

Kevin Kline as George, a man with a plan,
To leave a legacy, with his own two hands.
Hayden Christensen, a troubled youth in need of a guide,
Finds redemption and purpose, by his father's side.

But the script falls short, with melodrama in tow,
A desperate attempt for Oscars, that fails to glow.
The performances lackluster, the pacing too slow,
Life as a House sinks into oblivion, a forgotten show.

Despite its flaws, the film still shines a light,
On the power of redemption, and the bond that's tight.
A story of love, loss, and second chances,
Life as a House leaves us with bittersweet glances.
