Poetic Film Review: Doom (2005)

In realms of Mars, where shadows fall,
A tale of rage, of video call,
A game that spawned a deadly thrill,
Doom, a film, with action's skill.

A research lab, a wormhole's might,
A team of marines, to save the light,
Against monstrosities, so vile and dread,
Their fight, a spectacle, laid to bed.

The Rock, a hero, strong and bold,
A cast of actors, tales untold,
A scientist, a soldier, side by side,
Together fighting, a battle to abide.

But alas, the film, a disappointing sight,
A low budget, a lack of fright,
The script, a mess, a failure's name,
Characters shallow, dialogues lame.

A formula tried, from Aliens' lore,
But poorly executed, with little more,
A clumsy direction, wooden at best,
The cast, unable, to lift the test.

Rosamund Pike, a talent wasted,
A bad accent, a wide-eyed faced,
The Rock, a Razzie winner, it's said,
A role unfit, for his acting creed.

Yet hope remains, in a final scene,
A perspective shift, a thrilling dream,
A taste of the game, in cinematic form,
Too brief, but worthy, to dispel the norm.

Doom, a film, a mixed bag at best,
A video game, adapted, but not at its crest,
A story of rage, of action's might,
A cautionary tale, of Hollywood's plight.
