On November 22, Disney released the teaser trailer of the live-action version of The Lion King (2019) directed by Jon Favreau. The response in social media was immediate and the emotion of many could be evidenced through numerous reactions on YouTube.

This is because the original version, premiered in 1994, is one of Disney's most important classics and, perhaps, the most famous and beloved film by fans. The story, the animation and the music made it worthy of the Oscar for Best Soundtrack and Best Original Song ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight"), by Hans Zimmer, Elton John and Tim Rice.

More than 20 years later we, the children who marveled at this great film, are now adults who witnessed a trailer in which we contemplated a total fidelity to the original work, which caused very positive reactions.

It seems that Jon Favreau knows that when a work reaches a level of perfection and must have a readaptation, it must maintain the essence and all the details that made the original material a masterpiece. In this way the director shows great respect towards the initial work and towards the spectators.

The biggest trigger of our emotion, what gives us goose bumps, is hearing the beginning of "Circle of Life," composed by Elton John and written by Tim Rice, and performed by Lebo M. and Carmen Twillie.

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba

This is the Zulu chant that shakes us all from the first time we saw the film; it means "Here comes a lion, father."

This, in addition to the almost exact scenes of the animated version, leads to a feeling of nostalgia and longing.

Much has been debated about whether this version of The Lion King should be considered live-action or animated, as it was almost entirely done through CGI animation.

In a Screen Rant article, they explain that the creators of this film claim that it should be considered live-action because it was conceived and made as such. Beyond the fact that it is composed almost entirely of computer animation, the photography techniques used to make the film are those used in live-action films. It was not conceived as an animated film and, therefore, although it possesses elements of one, it is not.

While we are waiting with great emotion for the premiere of this film in July 2019, you can see the trailer here:
