Secret Mystical Symbolism Found in The Dark Crystal (1982 - Jim Henson/Frank Oz) Atlantis / Egypt / Sumeria
Another world, another time, in the age of wonder. A thousand years ago, this land was green and good - until the Crystal cracked. For a single piece was lost; a shard of the Crystal. Then strife began, and two new races appeared: the cruel Skeksis, the gentle Mystics. Here in the castle of the Crystal, the Skeksis took control. Now the Skeksis gather in the sacred chamber, where the Crystal hangs above a shaft of air and fire. The Skeksis with their hard and twisted bodies, their harsh and twisted wills. For a thousand years they have ruled, yet now there are only ten. A dying race, ruled by a dying emperor, imprisoned within themselves in a dying land. Today, once more, they gather at the Crystal as the first sun climbs to its peak. For this is the way of the Skeksis. As they ravaged the land, so too they learned to draw new life from the sun. Today, once more, they will replenish themselves, cheat death again, through the power of their source, their treasure, their fate - the Dark Crystal... But today, the ceremony of the sun gives no comfort. Today, an emperor lies dying. Today, a new emperor must seize the throne.
This blog is going to go through some of the most obvious symbolism that is in plain sight in the movie The Dark Crystal made in 1982 by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. If you're not aware of seeing such symbolism, the main one you need to know about is the pyramid with the eye.
I will also hint to you that the Dark Crystal is a movie trying to reference Atlantis, as well as why the Giza plateau in Egypt looks like this...
When it used to look like this...
The very first scene shows their castle in the middle of a dying land suggesting something has happened...
Immediately after this scene right away in the beginning of the film it begins to initiate us with the symbolism of the pyramid and eye. Astute symbologists/mystics will see more than what I will be pointing out, but you can see a bunch of interesting numbers and alignments along with the pyramid/circle-eye-sun.
They show us that the timed alignment of stars/suns are important to the story.
They show that the good mystics are also into these alignments, and sacred Fibonacci sequences found in nature.
The Fibonacci numbers are Nature's numbering system. They appear everywhere in Nature, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, the bracts of a pinecone, or the scales of a pineapple.Source
The pyramid with star/sun/eye is prevalent through out the entire movie, as I said...
The mystics wear it on their clothes... it's very important to them.

The pyramid is found through out the building in its architecture and walls ...
The character, Olgra, is very interesting. She herself is a symbol. First she has 3 eyes. We all do in fact (two eyes, and the third inner eye).
Olgra also has ram horns which is interesting, as it symbolizes the astrological sign of Aries;
In ancient Egyptian astronomy, Aries was associated with the god Amon-Ra, who was depicted as a man with a ram's head and represented fertility and creativity. Because it was the location of the vernal equinox, it was called the "Indicator of the Reborn Sun". Source
Olgra is the mystic/scientist - or Alchemist.
This is her laboratory - which focuses on the alignments of time. This is obviously very important to her.
On her floor you can see that sacred geometry is very important when studying the alignments.
Olgra knows what's up - a true alchemist.
By the way, the word 'alchemist' is where we get 'chemistry', but the word also references the real name of Egypt which is KMT.
Alchemy was the prevalent science/spirituality of the KMTians. KMT (pronounced kemet) means "the black lands".
The color black refers to fertility. So, KMT really means fertile lands. Remember this for later...

I failed to mention this... the main numbers found in this movie are 3, 6, and 9. Very important symbolic numbers.
This scene is loaded, but I'll mention that it's obviously trying to be like hieroglyphics...
The above scene also reminds me of ancient Sumerian texts. And this one looks like it's from the Dark Crystal, doesn't it?!?!

The movie, and the prophecy is very much centered around the alignments of three specific stars, or suns. When they align something happens...
What happens is that the prophecy is fulfilled, and split races return back to one.
His clothing has some interesting symbolism going on. And the others hands are crossed much like Egyptian mummies.
This process shows they built this building specifically to do this - like some kind of machine.
Everything goes back to being okay. Lush lands return, and the castle returns to being crystal.
Remember how it was in the beginning?
This is all interesting to me, because Egypt is quite often referenced when it comes to Atlantis. A lot of people think something happened long ago. They didn't pay their carbon taxes to stop global warming? :)

One thing is for sure, is that the Egyptians/Atlantians were also aware of the importance of alignments. The entire Giza plateau is aligned to the stars. The great three (and smaller others) are all aligned to Orion... which was Osiris.

This same alignment and others are actually found around the world, but the Egyptians have been found to have done it best. Or, at least are a representation of what's still left. The entire world might of had this scheme at one point.
Some people believe Egypt is Atlantis, and that something happened long ago that destroyed it and everything else.
A great flood?
Were the pyramids power plants that blew up and knocked everything out of whack resulting in fertile lands drying up quickly?
It's all a mystery, and there's so much more that I could get into, but this is just my take on it with what I found in The Dark Crystal.
The Dark Crystal is a great movie if you have never seen it. It's a timeless well done flick that I enjoy as an adult.

Cool write up. The layers of symbology in this movie are incredible. When this movie came out my councious self was quite illiterate to symbology and still have a lot to learn. I enjoyed your perspective on this . I think it is fascinating this language of symbology that talks to our deeper channels whether or not we are aware of it.
Yeah, I saw this when it came out and it spoke to me - I think some of us are just born with it. :)
