You’re the only other person I’ve ever heard mention Buffalo ‘66. Sadly it’s one of my favorite films. It’s such a fucked up story, but was so different from anything else I’d ever seen, and seeing it at 17, stumbling upon it on a movie channel at the part where he blows his brains out, I had to know more. One of the few VHS’s I ever bought. Compared to Titanic and other ilk of the times, it seemed a portrait of a neurotic outsider who didn’t understand what a piece of shit he was. Apparently Vincent Gallo is an asshole in real life, but I’ve never met or followed up on that. Buffalo, which plays itself in the movie, is pretty accurately portrayed, and thick thighed Christina Ricci was nice to see getting Stockholm syndrome from something other than Casper TFG, though you could leave shit like the bowling alley tap dance on the cutting room floor.

As for Mandy, a bullet dodged though Nic Cage usually keeps me from going to the firing range to begin with.
