Predator 2 : The Story behind the pistol
Predator 2 was always my favorite Predator movie. I get a lot of flak for that because Arnolds was so iconic. But I really loved the world building that went into the second movie. That being said, at the end of the movie after Danny Glover defeats the predator in hand to hand combat on its ship, several other predators appear. One tosses Danny an old wooden pistol as some form of congratulatory trophy for defeating his fellow predator. Well there is actually a kick ass back story to this pistol. . . . .
So I guess we should start be defining a few things. Predators, in their own way, have a code of honor. They wont killed unarmed opponent nor will they kill children (as shown on the train when Predator realizes the female detective is pregnant, he refuses to kill her).
The pistol originally belonged to a pirate captain name Raphael Adolini, who met the same predator that danny glover fought and apparently gained its respect through his exploits across the west indies. Its not really explained in any great detail, but its established that the Predator intends to challenge Adonlini to a honorable duel.
Unfortunately for the pirate, his crew initiates a mutiny against him after he forbids them from stealing gold from churches. Predator intercedes when he sees that Adolini's crew is about to murder him, and they go back to back and kill the entire crew. After the crew is defeated, Predator assumes a battle stance and turns his blade on Adolini. Adolini (apparently a badass), wipes the blood from his blade and assumes a similar stance. Fate would not allow them to battle though, as one of the crew members fires a bullet right into the back of Aldolini before there duel can begin. Predator turns this last surviving crew member into space mucus with his should weapon. As Aldolini lye there dying, he pulls out his wooden pistol and gifts it to he Predator for his honorable actions for saving him. The Predator in returns leaves his other worldly sword lying next to Aldolini and departs the planet. . . fast forward several hundred years. Danny Glover beats the City Hunter on its ship. Once he does, the Elder Predator from the Aldoini fight appears and tosses him the pistol out of respect. The funny thing about this comic is it was only released as a backstory for a planned third series by the producers never materialize. The initial plan was to turn this into movie! Would have been pretty badass imo.
