So far there have only been trilogies about the superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and just the appearances in the Avengers but now a hero gets his fourth movie for the first time. This was officially confirmed at the San Diego Comic Con to us and if we are honest, it had actually already been announced in Avengers Endgame that this will happen. But when and how wasn't clear.

Thor: Love and Thunder - November 5, 2021

The third film in 2021 in the MCU will also be a fourth for a superhero or a demigod, right, it is Thor 4. Some weeks ago it was already announced that Tiger Waititi is currently writing the script and will direct Thor 4. Kevin Feige has officially confirmed the whole thing again at the San Diego Comic Con. Thor 4 will be called Thor - Love and ThunderandTessa Thompson also will return as the Asgardian Valkyrie.

The special thing about this is that they will present us with upcoming 4rth Thor movie the first female Thor, because in the comic series of Jason Aaron Jane Foster grabs Thor's hammer Mjölnir and suddenly gets Thor's strength. Now the questions come back like but father Odin has told us that the hammer is not Thor... etc. Yes, that is also true. But Captain America could also use the hammer in Engame because he was worthy. Let's see how Marvel will explain it to us.

But the special thing about it is that Marvel have to explain to us where the hammer is coming from. It was brought back by Captain America and was destroyed in the normal time line. Maybe it's just the Stormbreaker? But we were shown the hammer at Comic Con, on stage and Natalie Portman picked it up. After the second part Natalie Portmann wasn't really up for any Thor and Marvel movies anymore and recorded only a synchro for Endgame. She didn't play the scenes that were shown anew, those were scenes from the Thor movies that weren't used at that time. Natalie Portman returns, she will be one of the leading actresses in Thor 4 and becomes the first female Thor like in the comics. There is also the case that there is still the normal Thor, but in the comics he calls himself Odinson, the son of Odin. That also sounds very interesting, especially because it will also be something of a fan service, because of the comic template for the story. The film is scheduled to start on november 5, 2021.

Hawkeye - In Fall 2021

There have been long rumors but never an official confirmation, but now it is really confirmed. The last series that will start 2021 at Disney+ is Hawkeye and it's just called Hawkeye. Of course Jeremy Renner also returns as this one and they also announced at the San Diego Comic Con that Kate Bishop will be part of it.


Who plays Kate Bishop is not known. Maybe Kate Bishop is his daughter in this case, too? We will see, because not more has been said yet. But Kevin Feige added that Ronan will also play a role in the story of the series. Ronan is the antihero, you could say, Jeremy Renner impersonated at the beginning of Endgame after his family disappeared. I think we will surely get more informations about the Hawkeye series in the next weeks and months. The series is supposed to start on Disney+ in the fall of 2021.

Is that all?

So far, these are the projects that have been given a start date in Phase 4. Other titles that have been announced but are still waiting for a date and that expect us after 2022 and maybe 2023 are:

• Black Panther 2
• Guardians of the Galaxy 3
• Captain Marvel 2

Well, what everyone hoped for, but didn't expect, was that Kevin Feige said there was no time to talk about Mutants ( X-Men ) and the Fantastic Four!
It was clear that after the takeover of 20th Century Fox by Disney, these two brands and superhero groups would not come to the MCU so quickly. Above all the whole thing was not expected because Kevin Feige had said in the past that the next 2 Phases had already been planned, up to 2027. Did their plans changed a bit? Will we see the Mutants and the Fantastic Four in the next Phase? It would be cool!

And that's not all! Another big surprise was the announcement of Blade! Yes, right, Blade the vampire hunter, the cool vampire hunting daywalker. Blade should get a reboot and he should not be embodied by anyone else than Mahershala Ali. An absolutely good actor who will play an absolutely cool superhero. It's still not clear when the movie will start. Only the hero with the actor was announced.

It's also not even clear if it will be a FIlm or a Disney+ series or both and if Blade will play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at all. Such a dark character with an even darker story wouldn't really fit into the family-friendly MCU. I could imagine that Marvel first wants to see how Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Darkness will arrive at the spectators, becuase the director announced a darker movie with elements from the horror genre. And also Morbius - The living Vampire from Sony, which should come to the cinemas next year and is a character from the Spider-Man universe, could also play a role in the decisions about Blade's future.

But I don't think that's all. Because between August 23rd and 25th there will be the Disney Convention in Anaheim, the D23, and I'm sure that Kevin Feige will keep some Jokers up his sleeve to be able to trump there again!
