We All Have Demons

So this past weekend I finally got to watch this, and if you recall I did a trailer review on the teaser for this about eight months ago.

Well the thing about trailers is that they tend to usually only show you the best parts, and I kind of like making an assessment on the trailer and then again after I watch it. So the original review I did I gave it a fairly high score, well firstly because this is one of the anti-superhero Marvel characters I have always really like. When Venom first appeared in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man 3, and it didn't really do the character justice in my humble opinion. He was essentially only a bad guy in that film and it felt like they left out quiet a bit.

This new standalone film with Tom Hardy staring as Venom did a far better job of getting into the nitty gritty of the character, his origin and the constant struggle between the host and the alien Symbiote. The constant banter between the two, which takes place inside the head on the host was well executed, and very much had the same feeling of those old school cartoons with the devil and the angle on the shoulders arguing about what the right thing to do was. The film unfortunately did not live up the very high rating I initially gave it, and scored a tad bit lower. Over all I still very much enjoyed it and I'm not going to give away much, but there's some pretty epic Easter eggs that pop up everywhere in the film.

"Everyone's got their thing! Maybe it's a break-up. A death. An accident. Whatever it is, you used to be one thing. Now, you're something else. We all have our own problems. Our own issues. Our own... demons!" - Eddie Brock

I really wanted to like this movie because venom is awesome and so is Tom Hardy but i didn't think it was enough to save the story. Too many plot holes, not enough character development and just really had nothing much going for it besides humour, long bike chase scene and some of the fight scenes!

I still would have liked a better story that made more sense! Maybe asking too much but it seemed like this was a movie that was supposed to be good and R rated and edited to what it is now
