Banking On Nostalgia

This week we got some brand new trailer from the upcoming Star Wars movie which hits the cinemas on the 20th December this year.

According the Lucas Film this movie will officially end the Skywalker saga, not the Star Wars franchise which Disney bought from George Lucas from $4.05 billion, but the story revolving around the Skywalker family. Which is kind of weird when they are calling the next film Rise of Skywalker, because the only Skywalker left is Ben Solo, who is the son of Princess Leia, who is or was Luke's sister. The problem is this, the Star Wars story mainly revolves around Anikin Skywalker, you know the chosen one, that's what George Lucas said, and why Star Wars was such an epic story. It essentially follows the heroes journey, which is the common template of a broad category of tales and lore that involves a hero who goes on an adventure, and in a decisive crisis wins a victory, and then comes home changed or transformed. popularized by Joseph Campbell. The problem here is that our hero died 30 years ago, so where do we go from here?

I honestly don't know how they can in any way save Star Wars from the colossal fuck up that was Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson, and as far as I know J.J. Abrams even consulted with George on how they could fix it. They opted to bring back Emperor Palpatine, and now we have scenes of a Darth Rey, which in my opinion could probably just be this a vision she has, and they added it in to try win back the fan base they treated like shit over the last 2 years. Deep down inside I can't help but cling to a glimmer of hope.
