Sprats, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - "Redirected" by Emilis Welyvis

in #movie7 years ago

Among the fans of criminal films, it is customary to criticize Guy Ritchie for firstly planting spectators on his dashing pictures, with colorful bandits, twisted stories and sparkling humor, and then abruptly shifted to some incomprehensible jungle, which, though spoiled by his favorite chips, but caused a stable-predictable reaction to the mole, * Richie is not at all *.

The most amazing thing is that the pictures of directors who are trying to imitate this real British Cockney pass almost unnoticed and the year before, I confess that it was quite easy for me to get all my acquaintances into the work of the Lithuanian director Emilis Welyvis, whose film "Redirected" I would like to tell today.

Despite the fact that the young Michael (Scott Williams) serves as a royal guard and guards the gate leading to the royal residence, his friends Johnny (Gil Darnell), Ben (Anthony Strachan) and Tim (Oliver Jackson) - natural London bandits. But they do not choose friends, and Michael feels well in this environment and once he involved in a robbery of an underground casino, in which the local authority of the Golden Pillar (Vinnie Jones) often happens.

Friends successfully "expose" bandits and even succeed in a plane that will take them from the misty London to hot countries, but as for evil the famous eruption of Eyjafjallajokull occurs and the plane lands in Lithuania, where passengers are offered to enjoy the beauty of the Baltic States and wait out the bad weather. If friends knew the end of the trip to a nightclub in Vilnius and how inventive their Baltic "criminal brothers" might be, then, right after the robbery, they would surrender at the mercy of the authorities ... or the London bandits.

I will say right away - before watching "Redirected" I had already seen other Welyvis movie - "Zero 2" and imagined in which fierce thrash this story could slide, but the result surpassed all expectations.

The gloomy Baltic criminals, cunning but pretty, girls with low social responsibility , an amazing rural flavor and a group of little-understood British bandits, getting into such ridiculous situations that they had to put the film on pause several times to have plenty of fun. An even more ruthless bonus is a lexicon in which, in addition to the abundance of British swear words, most of the characters (although they speak Lithuanian) swear at the Russian obscene language, because of which the picture should not be allowed to schoolchildren and those who are extremely concerned about the culture of speech.

Strongly recommend to fans of criminal comedies, massive action (lots of shooting and ашпре scenes, and the final shoot that generally kept in the best traditions of John Woo or Tarantino) and Vinnie Jones, who, as always, plays the tough Vinnie Jones.

p.s. Sorry for possible errors, English is not my native language
