My imaginary friend - SyFy's "Happy!"

in #movie6 years ago

The success of Netflix's experiments with form and content led to the fact that even famous for the inexpensive fantastic show SyFy channel in 2017 issued a thrash-grindhouse Blood Drive, and then even more bloody and insane action Happy! About which you can talk either well, or generally keep quiet. The other day I finished watching the first season and I'm ready to share my impressions.

Nick Sachs (Christopher Meloni) was once the coolest policeman in the city, but sank to the very bottom and now he does not prioritize the search for criminals, but elephant doses of alcohol, tons of drugs and other blackjack. And what else do you want to do, when faith in people collapsed, a career, pretty refueled with tequila, rode off into the sunset, and all the desires come down to quickly get yourself into the grave.

Outside the window, Christmas seems to be a bright holiday, and Nick manages to get into another scam which miraculously survives and begins to see the fluffy flying unicorn Happy (Patton Oswalt) who claims to be an imaginary friend of his daughter and needs his help more than ever.

Even the dedicated fans of the eponymous comic book of Grant Morrison and Daryck Robertson did not really understand how this crazy story could be screened, but it turned out to be at its best and the series could well claim to be one of the best hooligan shows ever. It seems to me that the main reason for that was the ideologist of the project and the director Brian Taylor, who wound up the boundless "Adrenaline" with Jason Statham. Just as in Adrenaline, there is a sea of violence, uncompromising abusive language, cruelty in all its possible manifestations and cynicism bordering on an extremely unhealthy sense of humor. Drive firefights, mass chases, fights with an abundance of krovischi, the use of all kinds of piercing-cutting (or accidentally tucked under the arm of a chainsaw), flying in all directions brains and limbs - no series will not do without a scuffle.

Add strange psychopaths and the next great role of Patrick Fischler (by God, I'm starting to think he's as crazy in life), dubstep music on BDSM-orgy, a ridiculous reality show, a living-dead gangster, and it's damn small to cover the whole spectrum of madness, which covered the creators of the series.

Nevertheless - it looks great, not giving a chance for breaks and now, when the first season is over - you can see it with a marathon and get a lot of fun. If you, of course, do not confuse the above elements.

Judging by rumors - the second season will not be tied to the original comics, leave only the main (surviving) characters and what to expect from it - is decidedly incomprehensible. But it will be - and it's just wonderful.

Sorry for possible eroors - English is not my native language.
