The Revenant (2015) by Alejandro G. Iñárritu (REVIEW)

in #movie6 years ago

It was a long time since I watched this movie so I try to write a honest review about it.

The movie The Revenant got a lot of critics about the movie length, some say that the drama is slow and boring while others love it. But that's not true, I got a cruel, existential version of the "Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn or Call of the Wild".

Yes, movies have a narrative speed of action, is is one of the factors that magnify the magic. Second, this is a classic movie and I am not talking about a movie that you're saying was good and you forget it after some time. This is literally a movie classic similar to "Once upon a time in America" or "Godfather".

Besides that, the cinematography on this movie is perfect and it may be studied at film academies.

At first, it seems that the director is taking a slow introduction of the nature landscape while he captures the most beautiful natural parts. And after it slowly focuses on Leo attacking a bear. With this, one unites the amazing beauty of nature and its uncompromising cruelty and relentlessness. If it is necessary to describe films in a word then this movie would be described as raw and realistic to the bone.

However, this is a film which the heroes are primarily seen with fear in their eyes and only happiness and endurance, not their incredible capability for what is necessary for everyday life in the wilderness.
