The movie “The Great Beauty” or “La Grande Bellezza” is directed by the Italian director Paolo Sorrentino is a melancholic essay for the cosmic loneliness that every man tries to run away by surrounding themselves with fake friends and prophets.
He points his finger to those intellectuals and he mocks them for their self-love and empty philosophy. The movie won European Oscar in 2013.
The main character in this movie is 65 years old Italian journalist and writer named Jep Gabardella who is a cynic, cheerful like Oscar Wilde and elegant. After his major success in his first novel he becomes worshiped by those intellectual circles of people.
After that, he haven’t wrote anything valuable since his first successful novel. He lives hedonistically as a parasite on the back of the art, he sells his self-image to the public and he spends his life at parties and hangouts in the center of the Rome’s cultural elite.
His night life is phenomenal, filled with art performances, luxurious dinners and parties with dancing till the late hours. But suddenly, the whole thing will change after he receives bad news about his old and unbridled love.
The movie is a modern masterpiece, he will offer you some valuable lessons about the “rich life” and some other very interesting topics, I highly recommend this fine art movie.
