Harry and the Hendersons (1987) movie is one of my favorite films of my childhood. I loved the Hendersons family and his attachment to Harry the bigfoot that they knocked down on the road and then hosted and cared for before giving him back his freedom.

Since this movie, every time I cross a forest with my car I imagine seeing a bigfoot pass between the trees 😊

The bigfoot or sasquatch is a legendary creature that would live in Canada and the United States.
The name bigfoot was given to him by the first settlers during the conquest of the West, because of its large presumed size and especially the gigantic footprints that it would leave after its passage.
This humanoid being would occupy mainly the great mountain ranges (Adirondacks, Rockies, Appalachians) as well as the highly wooded and sparsely populated areas (the Everglades).
The name sasquatch comes from the halkomelem (salish language spoken by Native peoples originating from the Fraser River region and southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada).

The Amerindian term "sasquatch" is used more in Canada, whereas in the United States and Europe the term "bigfoot" is preferred. These beings are generally described as hominids.

The persistent absence of material proof of its existence, however, leads most scientists to consider them as folklore.

Cryptozoologists support the authenticity of sasquatch. They argue that a broad range is not necessarily inconsistent with the existence of this species.
To ensure its survival, a species needs hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals.
Some zoologists and cryptozoologists assert that an area as vast as North America, with its immense plots of land virtually impassable for the most part, makes it possible that a species of anthropoid, still unknown, may live with a thousand representatives, especially if the latter can easily escape the human being.
No corpse of sasquatch could be found or any specimen captured.
The supposed traces that have been found to date (excrement, dead animals killed in a way that does not correspond to that of their natural predators or huge footprints left in the earth) have not been enough to convince the scientific community to his existence.
The multiplicity of testimonies can not be accepted as a convincing argument (especially since some proved to be hoaxes). According to Boese, "Few scientists accept the likelihood of such creatures, most consider these relationships a combination of folklore and hoax".

And you do you believe in the existence of bigfoot?

I'm so glad you shared with us your favorite childhood movies. They seem very captivating. I do not believe in bigfoot existence :))

Haha, I remember this show. Used to watch it a lot when I was a kid :) Maybe need to give it another look. Keep it up!

I will look at iy again to plunge into childhood 😊

Love John Lithgow in this era, specifically The Manhattan Project and Santa Claus: The Movie.

I don't think I've seen Harry and the Hendersons since the early 90's, I'll have to get around to watching that again. I do remember seeing the TV show many times back in the day when it was on syndication. If there was a movie that was successful in the box office, rest assured they tried it on TV. (Ferris Bueller, Harry and the Hendersons, Weird Science, etc)

I do appreciate the films and TV shows that I grew up loving and watching in my childhood, so thank you for sharing one of your favorites.

A warm and fuzzy family adventure about why you can't domesticate a sasquatch hahahaha
