Rampage Short Movie Review
It is likely to attract many preteens and teens thanks to the star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who plays a famous primatologist with an unusually close bond to a gorilla named George. A dishonest genetic experiment (reinforced by an evil corporate lab) causes George and two other animals to grow several times their size and strength; then they begin to invade the cities, causing massive destruction and casualties.
Expect tons of violence, including some bloody scenes (people show themselves without eyes and flattened). The character of Johnson is wounded several times (they even shot him), but as always, nothing prevents him from saving the day.
There is also a bit of flirting and a fairly frequent strong language (especially "shit" and "asshole") and a couple of rude jokes, including a gesture of the gorilla's hand But in the end.
The film is directed by Brad Peyton, Canadian director whose career was forged as a general rule in the genre of adventure and science fiction. He began his career in the world of film and television in the late 90's, as a production assistant in telefilms such as "A Gift of Love: The Daniel Huffman Story" (1999), "Harlan County War" (2000), " Seventeen Again "(2000) and in the feature films" Hedwig and the Angry Inch "(2001) and" The Safety of Objects "(2001). That same year, he wrote and directed the short film "Full" (2001) and shortly after he premiered "Evelyn: The Cutest Evil Dead Girl" (2002), a Gothic comedy short that Peyton showed to a lawyer involved in the world of cinema, which allowed him to distribute it among several specialized circles of New York filmmakers. The short film was also presented at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2002. Several years later, he created and produced the plastimation series "What's Like Being Alone" (2006), broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Four years later, Peyton directed his first feature film, the action comedy Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010), sequel to Cats & Dogs (2001), directed by Lawrence Guterman in which the actors Alec Baldwin, Tobey Maguire and Jeff Goldblum lent their voices to the animal protagonists of the film. After this title he directed the sequel to "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (2008), a film that premiered with the title Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) and featured the performances of Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Kristin Davis, Michael Caine, Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens. His next job as director was San Andreas (2015), action and catastrophe film starring again by Dwayne Johnson who puts on the skin of a rescue helicopter pilot who undertook the search for his family in California in the middle of a magnitude 9 earthquake. After this work he directed Incarnate (2016), a horror thriller about possessions and spirits starring Aaron Eckhart. In addition to his film work, Peyton has directed several episodes for television series such as "What's Like Being Alone" (2006), "Republic of Doyle" (2013) and "Frontera" (2016).
Primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps his distance from other people, has a strong bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent silverback gorilla he has been caring for since birth. But when a genetic experiment goes wrong, this peaceful ape becomes a huge, raging creature. To make matters worse, we soon discover that there are other animals with the same alteration. When these newly created alpha predators raze America destroying everything that stands in its way, Okoye joins a genetic engineer without prestige to get an antidote and makes his way into a changing battlefield, not only to stop a global catastrophe but to save the terrifying creature that was once your friend.
