Blade Runner 2049 is the highly anticipated sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, set 30 years after the events of the original and again starring Harrison Ford (as well as Ryan Gosling). Violence is frequent and strong, with brutal fighting, guns and shooting, stabbing, crashes and explosions, and bloody wounds/blood spurts. Women (some human, some holograms/sculptures) are shown naked, mainly breasts and bottoms and a man's pubic hair is shown. It's implied that the main character has sex with a prostitute, with his hologram girlfriend superimposed over her. Sex noises are heard in a red-light district, with vague sexual images glimpsed through frosted glass. Expect a few uses of "f--k"; characters also drink from time to time, but never to excess. The movie isn't without its flaws, and it certainly could have gone a bit deeper, but there's enough thoughtful, visually spellbinding stuff here to make it well worth seeing.

The film is directed by Ridley Scott, based partially on the novel of Philip K. Dick "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" Written in 1968 and is one of the precursors of the genre Cyberpunk. This sequel is directed by Denis Villeneuve, a well-known French-Canadian writer and director, focused above all on thrillers with high suspense and intrigue. After a series of short films Villeneuve made his debut as director of a feature film with Un 32 août sur terre (1998), presented in Cannes in the section Un Certain Regard. The film received seven nominations for the Jutra Awards, and was nominated to represent Canada at the Oscars, in the best foreign film category. His second film, Maelström (2000), was awarded in numerous international festivals and Villeneuve received the consecration in his country, winning the Prizes Genie (5 prizes of 10 nominations) and the Jutra Prizes (8 prizes of eight nominations), winning two prizes for best film, director and screenplay, and representing Canada again at the Oscars. The following works by Villeneuve were the short films "120 Seconds to Get Elected" (2006) and "Next Floor" (2008). With Polytechnique (2009), a film based on the Montreal Polytechnic School massacre, won the Best Canadian Film Award at the Toronto Film Festival and 9 Genie Awards. His next project, Incendies (2010), was an adaptation of the homonymous work of Wajdi Mouawad. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film and a BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano all participated in the film. The film was nominated for an Oscar in the best photography category for the work of Roger Deakins. That same year, Villeneuve premiered the mystery thriller Enemy (2013) at the Toronto Film Festival. The story, based in part on the novel "The Duplicate Man" by José Saramago, has again Gyllenhaal at the head of the cast, this time seconded by Mélanie Laurent and Sarah Gadon. Two years later, Villeneuve directed the action thriller Sicario (2015), a film focused on the Swiss fight against drug trafficking in the border area between the United States and Mexico. The film was starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. She was nominated for three Oscars including Best Picture. A year later, he directed Arrival (2016), a science fiction drama starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. The film starts with the arrival of some extraterrestrial ships and the attempt of a group of scientists to communicate with the aliens and to know what their intentions are.

WHAT'S THE STORY?
a new breed of replicants has been created to serve without rebellion. K (Ryan Gosling) is one of them, working for the LAPD as a "blade runner." While on a routine hunt for one of the older, renegade breeds of replicant (Dave Bautista), K discovers clues , a box buried in the ground and a date carved at the base of a dead tree that send him on a new mission. One of the clues is a carved wooden horse, which leads him to a woman (Carla Juri) who creates memories for replicants. From there, K tracks down former blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who has gone into hiding. As K gets closer to the solution of his puzzle, powerful replicant maker Niander Wallace (Jared Leto) and his super-strong henchwoman (Sylvia Hoeks) attempt to bring him down.
