Two Moles

For quite some time I wasn't really a fan of Leonardo, then I think he started to get roles that had more depth and was able to show his capabilities. This is one of those films where he gets a good role and a good director in Martin Scorsese. The end result is quite a good movie and worth watching.

Colin has always been loyal to his local crime boss and is groomed to become an informant for his "family" within the police department and let his boss know what the police are up to.

Billy on the other hand is recruited by the local police captain partly due to his family ties back to the local gangs. His status in the crime world is helped by doing some time in prison on a fake assault charge.

So now we have a mole in each organisation reporting to the other. Who else thinks this could get interesting? In short it does as each one is playing a high stakes game of cat and mouse with measures and counter measures. There can only be so many "coincidences" on both sides before people become suspicious.

It soon becomes evident to both the police and the crime gangs that each has a mole within their midst, so now the stakes have just gotten higher again. Who will slip up first, or be unable to control the situation?

In order to find the other it may mean turning on their new friends. This raises the question of have they been under too long and gotten loyal to the enemy? How far do they need to go to save themselves?

Not only does this movie have good acting, a good story, and good direction, it is also nicely balanced with suspense, action and some drama. All these elements combined make it a very good movie to watch.
