Movie "Taxi Driver" Review

I am not really good with writing a movie review, but one thing led to another. I am posting the second one

You know since I am in the movie industy, it is natural for me to become interested in movies I am involved in, so I tend to keep from posting it. However, as soon as I saw this movie, it got me thinking “I really need to write it”, and I took an action.

For those who might have misunderstanding, this is my personal review from my experience entirely.

5.18, it is a boring yet hearbreaking story.

When it comes to movies, it might be a little bit tedius, and since it is very heartbreaking, mere thought of watching movies based on 5.18 does not sound like a good idea to me. Of course, I am not trying to disparge 5.18 in any way, and it is solely based on my perspective.

The whole time “화려한 휴가(May 18, 2007)” was the best movie among 5.18 related storeis. However, as soon as I watched “A Taxi Driver”, I’ve changed my perspective completely.

However, in my perspective, it describes 5.18 very well from a perspective of an ordinary Seoul citizen, and this helped attracted audience better. At that time, nearby cities didn’t know the situation of Gwangju... I felt immersed in the situation at the time of the movie.

It made me feel as if I had been in that moment.... and it was absolutely not boring, touching and it made us feel very sorry about Gwangju citizens for not being of any help to them.

Even if it was only for a short period of time, but it is also fun for knowing that some scenes in the movie were where I was involved.

• Suncheon Seongdong car service center where Song Kang Ho picks a car.
• Jangseong closed street, a road that is blocked by soldiers on the street
• Ganada room, Yeosu which is a cafe that Hinzpeter comes in and have a conversation
• Onsu road, Gokseong where grandfathers who got asked where the roads are
• Immigration inspection center, International ferry in Gwangyang(closed)

If you look at this post, it would be fun to visit those places I mentioned and you will find it fun to be there.

My uncle’s generation heard a lot about what happened and studied through books.... once you watch this movie, you will be able to feel sadness, wraith, misery, gratitude, and I will keep this movie as one I will show to my kid when he grows up.

Whenever I see misunderstanding and verbal abuse about 5.18, it makes me feel very bad. I really want you guys to take a moment and watch this movie sometime soon.
