Movie Review: Shazam!
Shazam! Film from the DC film universe, here we are introduced to Billy Batson an orphan boy who becomes a hero by pronouncing the word ‘’ SHAZAM ’’ hero who has the qualities of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Achilles and Mercury; hence the name.
• Synopsis: the film begins in 1974, in northern New York, while Thaddeus Sivana is arguing with his father and brother, from one moment to another they take him to a magical temple that is in another dimension. In the temple he meets an ancient magician named Shazam who has been trying to find a person of "pure heart", Thaddeus is treated by the magician to obtain his powers, but is tempted by the Seven Deadly Sins and surrenders before them. magician. he sees the action of the young man and sees that he is not worthy, so he is denied the magician's powers and returns to the moment he was arguing with his father and his brother, the young man tries to explain what happened to him, then they have a strong discussion and get distracted causing the vehicle to deflect and crash; his father ends up crippled and his brother blames him for what happened.
Some time later Billy Batson, adopted son, looks for his biological mother but is placed under the care of Victor and Rosa who also adopted other children. Sivana, now an adult, is obsessed with finding a way to return to the temple to which he had been taken, finds him and steals the Eye of Sin; the sorcerer, unable to stop him, manages to contact the pure-hearted person who is Billy, the sorcerer makes Billy say his name to pass his powers and thus stop Dr. Sivana.
• Opinion: This new film from the DC film universe no longer has a dark tone that makes the movies look a bit shady, something that was improved with the justice league, in my opinion, they now surpassed it with Shazam! the funniest movie in the Dc universe; which is fine giving a new way to movies. The interpretation of Zachary Levi as Shazam was very good so it seems that he was born to play this character in the comics and his counterpart Billy played by Asher Angel was also good, however, there are times that Shazam feels like a person with a different personality This point is not very relevant but it is something that can be noticed in certain parts of the film.
Here we will see the Shazam family, whose members are Billy's adoptive siblings each with a skill that stands out more than the others. The way Billy is discovering and learning to control his powers was fine, the interpretation of Mark Strong was another that was great; getting to make a well accomplished representation of the villain. At the end of it all we see how Billy manages to accept his adoptive family.
In general, Shazam! It is not a bad movie, but quite the opposite, it is entertaining and fun; At no time does it become slow and everything progresses smoothly. In my opinion, he gave 8.2 out of 10.
Fun fact: In the movie Billy attends Fawcett High School, a clear reference to Fawcett Comics, the original publisher in which Shazam first appears.
