Dear Diary: Remembering The Movie "Cannibal Holocaust"

I remember watching this movie entitled "Cannibal Holocaust" in the early 2000 because my father went home from working abroad in 1998 and he brought home a DVD player so my brother was renting heavy VHS tapes and we happen to rent this quite an "offending" movie for some people but interesting for me.

I was still naive at that time and don't know what is going on in the movie despite the tell-tale signs of being only a movie like bad acting and that question in one's mind "who is taking the camera shot" with regards to some of the camera angles.

To tell you the truth it was only now that I happen to realize that only the animals are the only ones that are really killed in the film but certainly not the people like in the scene where the woman was raped and then cut in half by the natives. It is because there is a mix of animal "cruelty", sexual scenes, indecency, nudity, and other controversial aspects of the movie which made it so believable for me after seeing it.

The film was banned in many countries because of its graphic content which includes some real execution shooting by war correspondents and the controversial killing of animals. The actors were mistakenly believed to have been killed as shown in the movie and lead to the arrest of the director which made him prove in court that it was not real.

This movie is worthwhile seeing and not recommended for children to watch because of violence, nudity, and sexual acts, other than that the movie is really quite terrifying and disturbing to watch.
