There is no more expectant and stressful situation than visiting your new parents-in-law for the first time, this approach is much more surprising in the film Get Out, one of the best films of the year 2017 for having a masterful script that has everything to be a jewel of cinema. It was written and directed by Jordan Peele, a famous comedy actor in the United States who does an excellent job on this occasion.

It's the story of a young couple who have little time dating, Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) is a black man and Rose (Allison Williams) is a Caucasian woman. Rose invites her boyfriend for the first time to spend a weekend at his parents' house with the intention of getting to know each other. Chris is very nervous because he fears the reaction that his girlfriend's family may have knowing that he is dating a black man. The girl's parents are friendly and cordially accept Chris, until very strange situations begin that arouse Chris's distrust of his "nice" in-laws.

One of the strong points that the script manages is racism, but not seen as a social problem but as a social hypocrisy hidden in people who deny being racist but basically if they are, only to fit into a modern and open society They make a show of acceptance to the black race in the government for example, to relate to them for their own convenience but these attitudes are not sincere, they are only wolves disguised as sheep. The writer shows a passive modern racism, where we can see all the actors in uncomfortable situations simply because they are pretending to be "comfortable" with funny comments in a family reunion they do not want to be in.

Another of the strengths of this production is that it presents an intelligent script, the signs of violence are always present, even if the scenes are only for dialogue, the performances show the true intentions of the characters in such a subtle way that it can go unnoticed , is a way to play with our mind showing us something that was never hidden, for this reason I applaud this script; it is for intelligent spectators, since it is enough to pay enough attention to understand where the plot wants to take us.

It is a modern horror movie that indicates the path that others must follow, does not abuse the sound resources or abrupt frights to frighten the viewer, uses a sense of corraling and disadvantage around the protagonist very convenient as a psychological resource. The cynicism of family and friends reveals their true intentions from the beginning, it only takes a little intuition to discover the outcome of this story. It is full of symbolism there are elements that might seem strange but they are not, they are connected so that the spectator glimpses and does a mental job to discover an obvious truth.

The footage is aimed at a mature audience that is not easily surprised, uses real-life human topics in an ingenious way to make it terrifying, going from less to more in terms of suspense, to be immersed in the story we will want to run or shout to the protagonist to do it and that's where his terror lies, we must go arming a puzzle of events to decipher the hidden enigma by an unusual family.

Its setting, photography, music and camera movements have their own language that contributes to the suspense, without going into the spent clichés of conventional horror films, it is a different proposal, due to its way of introducing us into a heavy (expectant) environment, apparently nice but as the story progresses its setting makes us think that something is wrong, just that we have not had enough suspicion to understand it, this effect is very well achieved in this production.

The director manages to make us feel confused and tense, this has to do with the natural performance of the protagonist, we quickly empathize with him, making us feel in his place and accompanying him in his process of discovering what is happening, like him we feel out of place. His character does not feel part of that family and his friends, but at the same time he feels that the situation revolves around him, this mystery and tension projects him in a way that makes us feel like him during the development of the film.

Get Out it comes out of the standards of typical horror movies, it is handled in an elegant way supported by psychological elements, such as silence, the looks and gestures of the characters, it makes us feel stalked as in a hunt, it is intriguing , interesting and offers a very good proposal to horror movies. The critics on her are excellent and she was deserving of four nominations to the prizes Oscar, in the categories better film, director, actor and script, gaining an award by this last category: better original script.
