Documentary Review: Hot Girls Wanted (2015) A sad attempt at a documentary

Hot Girls Wanted is a 2015 made documentary about porn industry and it's effects on young actresses. We mainly follow 19 years old Tressa (aka Stealla May), 23 years old Riley who calls himself a talent agent and also is a male talent. Riley finds girls through craigslist ads for first time shoots. Girls from 18-21 comes down to Miami and lives with him and other girls in a five bedroom house. Most of the documentary happens in this house to reflect on these girls daily lifes. But...

This documentary doesn't feels like a documentary about porn industry and it's dangers. It fails to deliver on harsh part of the porns star's life. In a 90 minute documentary we only say "wow this profession looks dangerous and this is not like it's advertised on the outside" for just a couple scenes. In first half hour we talk to girls about porn and how they got in. But they are eager girls and dont want to admit they are making mistakes (because which teen wants to admit that) so they are constantly talk about how good they got going, how much money they are making, and how good was the industry for them.

First half feels more of a advertisement for becoming a porn star rather than showing how bad it is. Only after 45 minute we see some bad sides. Like one of the girls getting sicked (but gets treated over night so we dont realy see a bad side) or Tressa's confession to his mother about her becoming a porn star in miami (but mom knows and she is very supportive). After all that weak content, we see some strong stuff like degrading porn and it's bad aftermath(also girls downplay this by saying it is all acting so no biggie young girls, go do some degrading porn). Some social outcasting and how porn is using these girls for couple short months usualy.

If you ask me, ıf you are making a documentary about how porn is bad you should come to me with some serious stuff because porn is a daily occurrence for all man and most of woman. We are all used to it, you should shock us to get under our skins. But naaaah, we dont get that kinda stuff. At the end most of the girls quits porn after couple months but they all get away scot-free.

My final thoughts are some of the scenes felt like way too staged, we see some repetitive scenes that gets old quick. After all not good enough documentary for such a strong topic.
