Anyone for a Firesale?

An attempt to connect to a slightly different audience than just your pure action fans. There is of course a lot of action, as well as a bit more to the plot. The film delivers pretty well. Bruce does his usual routine, but this time has help from Justin Long who plays his part very well. The good guys need a decent villain of course, and Timothy Olyphants delivers a very good performance with rage and anger, where required. It isn't be best Die Hard, but still worth seeing, the original was the best in my opinion.

This Die Hard incorporates cyber crime into the plot to a degree. The FBI's cyber crime computers are hacked, which lead the FBI to enlist the aid of local police departments to round up various hackers as it is the 4th of July weekend. This means that a lot of agents aren't working, John McClane is of course working, so he is given the task of bringing one of them in.

The bad guys don't want any loose ends and sent a hit squad to kill said hacker (Farrell) , they have killed all the others involved so far. The hack and action have only just started, the hackers start bringing down one system after the other. This forces the backup protocols to kick in, which is to transfer all financial data to one location.

The Hackers are planning on taking the data, which would result in ALL financial records being lost. This they believe would cause a firesale of ALL assets, real estate, stocks, bank accounts, etc. Can McClane and Farrell stop the mastermind behind this hack before he gets all the data?

Sort:

The first three Die Hard movies were great, the fourth was average, and the last was terrible... I think it is time for Bruce Willis to retire in his role as John McClane...
