Definition of social movements !

Social change is caused by a variety of agents, in today's media such as television, the internet provides a quick overview of social change. What is created and given by television or internet shows symptoms such as massive demonstrations, mass strike, oppressive government protests, assault actions. They are all social movements. It seems that social movements are the most effective change in society.

Many scholars have argued that social movements as one of the main ways to reorganize modern society (Blumer, 1951) as the creator of social change (Kilian 1964), also states that "the mass movement and the conflict it creates are agents of social change" (adamson & Borgos, 1984)

Definition of social movements

Adequate definition of the social movement component of other agents:

Collectivity of people acting togetherThe joint goal of the action is a certain change in their community that the participants set in the same wayCollectivity is relatively dispersed but lower than the formal organizationThe action has a relatively high degree of spontaneity but not institutionalized and unconventional form

So social movements are collective actions that are organized loosely, in no institutional way to produce change in their society. Descriptively it can be said that the social movement refers to a special type of group acting by mutual consent: it is older and more compact than crowds of crowds, crowds and crowds, but unorganized like a political club and crowd (heberle 1972)

Problem change is the basis that determines the characteristics of social movements. Social movements are related to social change. (Wood & Axon, 1982)

Conception of Social Movement

A social movement is usually based on the dissatisfaction and injustice felt by the community. And because of such injustices people want a change. Therefore, in the end people gather and unite a demand to the government. Social movements that do not only want a change in the field of policy and structure, but some who want a change in the field of ideology. A movement It can be said of a social movement when it is done collectively and has a common purpose and in its action there is a plan. But there are also characteristics where the movement can be said as a social movement. As Bruce J Cohen (1992) points out, among others:

Group movements. Organized (structure, personnel, network, working mechanism, capital support / tools, etc.) Have a plan, goals, and methods Have an ideology Change or maintain Have a much longer age
