There is a MASSIVE difference between a gamers mouse and a regular mouse! I’ll also let you in on VERY important tip that could change your life for the better in the future! Yes, it’s something to do with computer mice!

See that picture above, that’s not a gamers mouse by any means… but we will come back to that later.

A gamers mouse, obviously for gamers is a mouse made to improve game play, how does it do this? The main difference is the ability to customise how sensitive a mouse is, by changing it’s DPI normally via the mouse’s own software or sometimes a button on the mouse, This is so the “user” can find a sensitivity that suits how they play, for example think of a player who like to be able to spin around and look side to side fast, they would need to play at a higher DPI than a normal mouse, Now think of a player that wants to slowly align their shots, they would need a lower DPI setting.

Gaming mice manufacturers don’t want to make a mouse for people who want low DPI and a separate mouse with a higher DPI as most new buyers don’t know what DPI they like, so they wouldn’t know what to buy also some people like to play at different DPI’s for different games.

Some Gaming Mice also have more buttons then regular mice to help perform certain “moves” in games easier.

As a gamer and someone who uses the computer for hours every day making websites etc.. I noticed that my mouse hand’s wrist was hurting quite often and forming a callus that even started to bleed from time to time, I knew that this wasn’t good for me so I did some research and found out about “RSI” and “carpal tunnel“ and it was mainly caused by downward pressure on your wrist when using a “normal” mouse, upon further reading I found out that vertical mice have been reported to help solve this issue since you don’t rest on your wrist.

Reading some more horror stories about how painful it can be and worried that at some point of my life I might not be able to enjoy using a computer due to wrist pain, I invested in a vertical ergonomic mouse (for <$20 USD), a good soft mouse pad and wrist rests (I also got a stand desk so I wasn’t sitting down so much).

My setup now is a Vertical mouse for doing everything except gaming and a gaming mouse for gaming only, this way my wrist get a break in-between games (I’m not a mega gamer) In the picture above you can see my Vertical mouse and behind you can just make out my mouse bungee and cable going to my gaming mouse (logitech g403).

I know it’s strange but I just feel it’s important to warn people, to be careful using a computer for long periods of time. My “life changing tip” is to get a vertical mouse as it might just help prevent you getting RSI / carpal tunnel, especially if you find your wrists hurting.

I have just put together a massive review of 10 vertical mice on my site 10Solid:

The first mouse (#1) is the one I use now and what I recommend to beginners,

Thanks, I hope this helps some people.
