Good that you came prepared for those hailstones. How big were they?

I think you made the right choice in the end by going back. Those winds can be really treacherous, I almost got blown over the edge of a coastal path next to some high cliffs. That also made us turn back instantly.

    Thanks @daan. The hailstones were quite small and really stinging as they lashed our faces! That coastal path experience sounds scary too. High winds can be very dangerous.
