Built 48 Bobber

I have always loved the look of an old school bobber but was having a hard time finding a bike in good enough running shape to start a build. That's when I found the Sportster 48 and fell in love with the platform. The 48 was a perfect starter to build the bobber that I wanted. I purchased my 48 brand new in 2013 and began my project.

I started with a set of 7 1/2 rise Z bars to give it a more aggressive riding posture. The next thing that has to change was the exhaust tone. The stock exhaust just didn't turn any heads so I went with a set of spitfire motorcycle high n tights to give the bike a clean look and really open up the Harley Davidson 1200cc evolution engine.

Of course with the engine getting a new exhaust I put a stage II air cleaner on next letting the bike draw in more air. Next came shaving the excess such as the fenders, subframe, and turn signals. For that I looked toward a grinder and a cut wheel so there was no turning back. Losing the front signals and fender plus the majority of my rear fender and subframe definitely gave me the old school look but something was missing.

To give it that little bit more I added a 2" tank lift and relocated my wiring harness, ignition, coil pack, and added some braided plug wires. This opened up the engine giving it more space and making it the center of attention. By this point nobody would guess I was riding a 2013 Harley, most believed it to be a much older bike I had restored.

I was very happy with that but I had to add the finishing touch. Lowering the bike 4" with solid struts in the rear and adding a spring mounted solo seat custom made with hand tooled leather. This final touch really sets the bike off and gives it a unique look and style.
