Hey Moto Steemers,
If you grew up in the 80's or 90's then this is the video for you. This film is all about Fleshwound Films the Creators of the Best Moto Video series ever "The Crusty Demons of Dirt Series" This video series started a revelation that we now call Freestyle Motocross. These guys show a side of the industry that all of the Suits and Bosses work so hard to try and keep it covered up! There is no doubt the Fleshwound Films and Crusty Demons changed not only a generation but changed our sport forever! I can remember watching the first three videos in absolute amazement until I wore the Tapes out! Its a shame they don't really make videos like this anymore that shows what really happens behind the scenes when a bunch of frustrated Pro Racers meet up with a few laid back Free-riders. If you have seen the "Crusty Demons of Dirt" Series then your going to love this video and you have not or never even heard of it prepare to have your mind blown!!

Video Description / The Plot:
They are men and they are supermen. Human in all ways – vulnerable, emotionally and physically – but also beyond the norms by being willing to take risks, suffer the consequences, and somehow, come back again to see if their own limits, and the limits of what people think is possible, can be exceeded.

My film was created to explore underpinnings of why young men get on a motorcycle and are compelled to not only compete with each other, but push themselves to see what are the boundaries when you face fear, overcome fear and take what you can imagine as a dare to actually go and do what it is you have dreamed up.

“Unchained: The Untold Story of Freestyle Motocross” stars with the story of how the sport of freestyle motocross was born, and explores the lives and motivations of the greatest athletes it has to offer, from the consummate rebel Brian Deegan of the “Metal Mulisha,” to racer-turned-wildman, Travis Pastrana to the original “OG” of the sport, Seth Enslow, who inadvertently launched it all with a massive, heart-stopping crash in the sand dunes of Glamis in Southern California.

Along with my co-director, Jon Freeman, we are uniquely qualified to tell this story as we both not only were there throughout every pivotal moment, but helped create them, and narrated by motorcycle aficionado, Josh Brolin.

Jon, along with his partner Dana Nicholson, created the “Crusty Demons of Dirt” VHS series, which was not only the medium to unleash the sport, but was the message itself. Before there was an Internet or a YouTube, people self-programmed with tapes, and “Crusty” bought a never-before-seen lifestyle an attitude first to the motorcycle world, and then a broader audience of action and extreme sports, deeply rattling the traditional establishment. And here is where it intersected with my life, as an experienced ESPN director and producer. I took the free-flowing, eye-candy mayhem of the “Crusty” films and brought it to the ESPN and the sport – to go along with the lifestyle – of freestyle moto-x was born; I would go on to produce it at the X Games for the next 15 years, while also becoming a filmmaker with the likes of the Emmy Award-winning documentary, “Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau” and the theatrical documentary “FASTEST” about MotoGP racing, among others.

“Unchained” chronicles the birth of the sport, first as a sideshow, then becoming life-and-death serious when Carey Hart and Mike Metzger brought the backflip – going upside down on a 250-pound motorcycle – into the competitive equation. And our film explores, with interviews with wives and girlfriends, along with the riders themselves and observers like skate legends Tony Hawk and Danny Way, the context of risking so much for the simple thrill of progression and the desire to test oneself regardless of the consequences.

“Unchained” is a visual feast of motorcycles doing extraordinary things in the air, -- culminating in the seeming impossible double back flip -- but at its heart, a inspiring film about courage, fear and what drives people to move forward regardless of the consequences. I was an eyewitness and provocateur, and am thrilled to be able to share, as the director and writer, a look at a world thought of as as one thing, but in reality more human and brutal and also more universally inspiring than anyone has imagined before.
