Tim Gajser confirms shoulder injury, sidelined for MXGP of Russia
The tough Slovenian has had a hard time of it lately... A series of dismounts and hard crashes has taken its toll.
The GP of Latvia left him seriously bashed and bruised but he was determined not to miss out on points to the competition. Typically for most competitive Motocross pros he decided to ride through the pain for the GP of Germany in Teutschenthal, this proved to be a mistake as he crashed out hard...
The Honda HRC MXGP Team have confirmed that the World Champion has sustained a broken shoulder blade, effectively ending any chance he will be fit to ride at the MXGP of Russia this weekend.
Gajser was whisked back to Slovenia to the National Sports Injury clinic to continue treatment, physio and rest for the next few weeks.
As frustrating as it is to see a rider of such talent out of the running this was not a decision the Honda team took lightly. Tim himself has shown himself able to push through and no doubt wants to ride desperately but he needs to take time to heal and come back 100%. He is expected to return to MXGP in three weeks for the GP of Italy.
Tim Gajser said in a press release:
"This is something I was really trying to avoid as I really do not want to miss any races. Unfortunately, my shoulder injury is a little worse than we first realised, so I have to accept that I can’t race this weekend in Russia. I want to make sure it is fully recovered before I come back. I will really miss racing in Russia, especially as it is the first race over there since 2012. I just want to say I am sorry to my fans, sponsors, team, Honda and all the other people who help me be where I am. In terms of my recovery we all agree that it is the right decision, and one thing I can say is that I will come back stronger!"
I hope he recovers soon, he's really good.
I agree @janop! He is an amazing talent and big things in his future, maybe USA... :)
It would be perfect if he could somehow recover on time, but if I was him I wouln't take that risk because it could affect his promising career.
Exactly... he has already tumbled due to pushing through an injury. No way he should press his luck now.
All the best to him for a quick recovery.
you know it @team101
Bad news again...😞
It seems dangerous to ride on michines.
Motocross is a worldwide sport :)
Millions of people do it so don't be too worried.
