Due to Monster Energy KRT MX2 closing its doors at the end of the 2017 season a few guys were left hanging with their futures in the balance. Stephen Rubini managed to hit the floor running and secured a ride with Silver Action KTM. Now Morgan Lesiardo, who is the current EMX250 champion, has announced that he has signed for the Italian based team, Marchetti KTM.

Morgan Lesiardo will contest the full season in the MX2 Class for 2018 which should give the young man something to aim for next. There has also been talk that Jose Butron will continue to ride with the KTM based team also but it seems they are in contract talks currently so info is hard to come by. There were rumours in the paddock that the team was on a path out of the MX2 class earlier in the year due to lack of riders but if they do secure Butron it can only be good for both riders and the team.

Lesiardo competed in six rounds in the MX2 Class last season and although he only secured a season best win of 15th this was due to his focus being the EMX250 title. Do not be fooled by his lacklustre finishing in MX2 as he won the EMX250 class with a points lead of 52! It was obvious where the young riders focus was last year :)
