Hunter Lawrence - Injury Update
It was an impressive start for Hunter Lawrence in his return to the FIM Motocross World Championship. He was showing great speed and was easily logging in the top three and was looking like he had the push to fight for the lead coming into the Main Event.
Things went south though for the Honda rider early on in the opening moto as he crashed out and hit his hand badly, 114 Motorsports issued the following statement.
114 Motorsports
"After a consistent qualification race yesterday, Hunter Lawrence will unfortunately go back home without points this weekend. He was in fourth place in first moto, but lost the front and landed pretty hard on his head after a step up. He is ok, but to not take any risks he won't start in second moto. Let's keep being positive and focus on next GP in Germany."
I managed to source a low quality video of the crash and he does look like he took a big blow to the head.

This is a bad turn of events for Hunter as he has just come back to riding after picking up a broken metacarpal in his right hand. Bas Vaessen, the other rider on his team, is also out due to a muscle injury and this leaves the new team in a bad place. I just hope they can get things back on track quickly before the team goes into free fall...
