You can do anything you set your mind to.

I recently graduated from college as a Biology major, and while I found the topic to be interesting, I didn't want to be stuck in a lab for the rest of my life, or pursue medicine. What I did love, and was constantly doing on my free time was programming. Game programming was my first love, messing around with Unreal Engine, but since then I have been learning everything I can find. This passion has taken off far more than I could ever imagine, and has motivated me to make this a career.

An obstacle though, I have my degree in Biology, how will the tech world see me? As it turns out, people find it sorta impressive actually. Since learning and messing around with programming has led me to tons of knowledge in various aspects of the field, I can hold a pretty complex conversation with someone in the field of computer science. I often get recognized as a comp sci major, but when I say that I was biology, they get startled, which becomes a testament to how much I love the subject. It ended up working in my favor.

My little two cents for anyone who wants to do something but feels like they aren't qualified or on a non-traditional track: GO FOR IT! If it is what you love, then there is nothing that can hold you back, and you will want to learn and grow far more than traditional education can possibly do. Remember, those who wants, gets.

In centuries past, a lot of people were actually trained in multiple scientific fields. It's only recently that we are more focused in just one.
