The children, with the help of the worker, use the mining equipment and supplies, to dig a way out, but they also come across a poisonous underground stream and have to find a proper way to get the safe water.

John, the worker, tells the children that the mine has been closed for many years due to its dangerous conditions, but he had come back to check for any valuable resources that were left behind. He's knowledgeable about the mine's layout and helps the children navigate through the dark, unfamiliar tunnels.
