It is the custom and tradition of the people of a village that whenever a King has used four years in power, he will be banished to a deserted island where he will be feasted by wild animals. The first King of the land was aware of the unhappy ending he would have when his four years is up, so he enjoyed life to the fullest. He is always cloaked in best outfits, ate the best food they have in the land and married as many women as possible.

Prior to the last day of his four years in power he was taken round the beautiful village in company of his wives, children, Chiefs and the whole community. This is done in order for him to have a final look at the village before he is sent to the deserted island. He was so sad and gloomy because he was going to leave all the beautiful things he's seeing and go to a bush where there are nothing but only trees, animals and the likes. Not just that but the fact that he was going to die soon too.

He was eventually banished and in a short period of time there was a fresh odor starting to come out of the desert which signifies that he has passed on. What a pity! This tradition continues for so many years. Over 30 Kings went through this sad custom and tradition.

After the death of the 30th King, the new King that was coronated took a trip to the desert after spending a week in power to survey how it looks like. He ordered his guards and some laborers to go cut down all the trees in the desert, construct beautiful buildings, and replace the wild animals with domestic animals like chicken, goats, cattles, dogs etc. All these he did discreetly without letting the whole village know about it.

Interestingly, he goes to the newly renovated desert every week to relax in the morning and return in the evening. He did this throughout his reign to the extent that he was eager to end his four years and retire to the desert. On the day he went round to see the village for the last time, he was smiling and happy as oppose to the previous Kings that are always looking morose.

He was banished and lived happily in his pre-designed supposed desert.

MORAL OF THE STORY
The moral of the story is quite simple and straightforward. It is the fact that one's destiny lies in one's hands. You are the only one who can bring about the change that you want to be. Noone would help you design your life. You are the Master of your life. If you don't take the step to get rid of what people perceive as the status quo, don't be surprised that you would also fall in the same trap. Your freedom is guaranteed when you refuse to follow others.
