Consistent Action Creates Consistent Results

Consistent action is a term I coined when I first started training corporate staff two and a half years ago. Consistent, action is the most important aspect of creating any successful organisation. Without this you cannot claim to be delivering results or even claim to be operating in a business environment. Consistent action includes planning, setting targets, measuring and reporting results, holding people accountable and identifying opportunities. Without these aspects no business will be sustainable.


Consistent action is a must for anyone who wants to take their business to the next level. Consistency in business can mean the difference between success and failure. In a world of instant gratification, it is vital that corporate management take a slow, steady approach to delivering results. Otherwise, staff will become bored and lose the drive they need to succeed.

Set yourself goals. Start with what you want to achieve within your company. Is there an overall goal you want to achieve? Perhaps you want to increase productivity and profit. Your goals should be relevant to your staff and aligned with their role within your business.

Measure results regularly. Are you achieving the results you want to achieve? Where are you currently at? Do you feel that more work needs to be done? Once you have answers to these questions you can set yourself into action.

Hold people accountable. Everyone has a role to play in the achievement of your company's goals. If you expect your staff to take consistent action you must give them the tools, support and encouragement they need to do so. Give them regular feedback on their progress so that they know where they stand. By rewarding their consistent action you are reaping the rewards of your hard work.

Manage opportunity. One of the keys to business success is the ability to take advantage of opportunities. This doesn't mean you always jump into everything. However, it does mean that if something comes up you get involved. If you don't do anything, opportunities will pass you by. Controlling your response to opportunities is one of the skills you must develop in yourself.

Seek the counsel of others. There is no substitute for talking to others who have been successful in achieving their goals. When you talk to people who have had different results achieve your goals, too. It's important to remember that you are unique and you each have different actions and reactions to things. By seeking advice you are giving yourself a leg up on your journey to success.

The key to success isn't always easy to define. However, consistent action is not about reacting to circumstances but rather creating plans and implementing strategies. Take control of your thoughts and take the steps to creating the results you desire. You will be pleasantly surprised at the difference it will make in your life.

A consistent and continuous action plan is one of the best ways to achieve the results you desire. Make sure you set clear expectations early on so you can be motivated to reach them. Define what you expect to happen and write it down. Then, as you achieve some progress, re-evaluate the plan and add new steps or change certain elements. Write these things down and refer to them often so you remain focused and motivated.

You may want to try one action strategy. Don't jump from one goal to the next. Instead, create a list of goals for a given period of time. This will serve as a reminder that you are moving forward and this will provide the basis for a more consistent and continuing action plan.

It is important that everyone on your staff know what your expectations are. This helps ensure everyone understands their role and helps avoid any communication problems down the road. Create specific goals for specific people, such as the team leader or someone else in the office who is responsible for more specific tasks. When you discuss these goals, be sure to be clear about the expected outcomes and how they will be achieved. This will help everyone understand why they are working towards one common goal.

The power of consistency starts with each one of us. Consistency in actions and in attitude is one of the most important ingredients for success. If you want your business to succeed, then learn more about consistent action. You'll be glad you did. !
