The more we grow in life, is the more we get to know and realize that people who say 'NO' more than they say 'YES', are the one's that do gets to the next phrase or level in life.

Most of us are usually really bad at this. We refuse to say to No, when people bring up some certain work, challenge or project to us.

We try to see if we can do it even when we know we don't have the time or it isn't our discipline. We stay wake in the middle of the night looking for ways and at worse, we end up doing a bad job and ruining relationships.

Saying yes all the time isn't just about fear of confrontation or letting people down. It goes deeper than that.

All generations are always aging. When we are at a job we still look for other opportunities. When we are working on project, it's usually several and when we pick a career path, it's usually the one that people think is the best and has the best options.

Options the silent murderer of success.

When we are been asked what do we want to be or do in life, we say we want to be this or we are thinking about doing that, but we are keeping our options open.

But the reality is, keeping your options open most times, is one of the worse decision you can make.

The best decisions in life are the ones that reduces optionality.

It's the difference of trying to live to everyone expectations of who you should be, verses living up to your own. It is about giving up more than you take on.

Here Are Five Things We Need To Give Up, If We Really Want To Grow Our Career.

  1. Other people's judgement.
When we care about what others thing, we are giving them the opportunity to manipulate us, and not only that, we are basically surrounding our self-esteem to random events that we have zero control over it.
People's judgement are most times not logical.
The only time we should care about what people think, is the only time we want learn a particular skills that they have.

  2. Too much informations at a particular time.
The informations we get are what usually do shape and influencesthe way we see life.
We got alot of things this days, from Facebook, to twitter, to instagram, to YouTube, to websites and so much more.

The more information we take in at a particular time, the more crowded our brain is. And the more crowded the brain is the less we are able to focus on the things that actually matters in our lifes.

  1. What I thought I should become in life.
So many of us this days tend to pick our careers base on the earning aspect, how popular the career work is, and the numbers of people who get employed. But the reality is, this people are indirectly delegating their career success to others like their boss. And it's a bad decision to make when we can be like that our boss in our own special way.

  2. My personal judgement of other people.
Part of the reasons people don't go after what they really want or want to be in life isn't really about what other people would think most times, but rather it is because what they think about other people doing that same career or who made that same decision. The less we judge other people's mistakes, the less we would be to make them ourselves.

  3. Our quest for perfection.
Some people tend to say, they have high standards so they can't do it. But the truth is perfection is a disgust of insecurities and the fear of making mistake. Success people in life ain't perfect, no one is. So we shouldn't beat ourselves because of it.

We shouldn't settle for mediocrity because of what we tend to create for ourselves by our own selves.

Many times we pay so much attention to what other people think that deviates us from the path we had planned ... and sometimes we want to help others and we focus so much on that, that we neglect our path and when we dous see ... we are not yet for half of ours !!!!

Yes, you right.
It isn't suppose to be that way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I preciate.

Wow how interesting. Well people always want to be the best at what they do and its sure better to be the beat at what you love than be a mediocre at what you don't love.
We should always try to do what will make us happy and not just to impress others. We should not be forced or compelled to do some things, it should come from the willingness within. Nice one @uche-nna

What an inspiring way to start a day, great post from my cherished friend @uche-nna...

You made a wonderful points but i will be speaking on one aspect as you have already adviced against multiple focuses, because it undermines the productive of our brain.
That's on the perfection aspect, there is a saying that says; Why those that knows it are afraid of making mistakes, those that are illiterate are busy making mistakes and becoming perfect.

Don't wait forever to start a thing because you thought that you are not good enough to embark on it, no one is perfect thats why the world will keep having outdated things......

Try out something concerning your betterment in life.

Thanks bro.

Resteemed for my friends to benefit from; its a very informative post.

Great points, thanks @princluv.

I really have not viewed it from this perspective before...am more used to the "SAY YES" type of inspirational messages. Saying NO is still very new in my ears and am still pondering/processing the information lolz. My question though, does this mean that being a jack of all trades, master of none is wrong?

To your question, it isn't wrong but been a jacker of all trades makes you not to give in your best at a particular trade. It doesn't help in finding your niche or to be the best at a particular feild you are suppose to be due to lack of concentration.

Great post bro there is nothing as good as being yourself!

Am glad you do..

We have to base our decisions on what we really want, seeking success at all times, not letting ourselves be influenced by third parties, or simply believing that we are not capable of achieving great status.

We really are capable if only e believe we can and work towards it..

Saying "No" sometimes is cool as you rightly expantiated on
A quick addition...Saying 'Yes' doesn't only contributes to shabby work, it also portray a shallow minded and less confidence on the fellow's attitudinal character

Yeah, I do get..
Thanks for stopping by..

Incredible!
It's quite better to give up on what you don't got,
Just work and develop on what you got...
Trust me,
It's gonna turn big one day

Yes, it really will even if it takes time and seems like it won't, you just have to remain focus.
