I used to wonder why true love wasn't made a default gift given to all men just the same way one talent or the other has been given to all of mankind. I wondered why that after love has been shed abroad in our hearts as believers because we accepted Christ as our Lord and Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ still tells us, His disciples, to love one another and that this would tell the world that we're really from Him.

Why does it not flow automatically? I used to wonder but not anymore. Now i have the answer. You see, one thing that strikes me about life is that it's all about the choices we make. For example, the Creator of all things, God Himself, does not force any of His creation to serve Him, He doesn't make it a must. This is why He gave you and me a will so that we can make our own choices.

God gave man the right or the power to make his own choice. God permits every person to choose his own path, to have a free will. He has given each of us the responsibility to choose whether to obey Him or not. Either of these (obeying God or not obeying God) won't happen by chance but by choice. God did not want to create mere machines (robots) that do what He wants like dummies because that's not how God Himself is.

He made us to resemble Himself. We were made in His image and to function like Him. He created man to be able to exercise the responsibility to choose between good and evil.

Love gives you the freedom to choose. Love isn't coercive.

True love is not love if it is forced or coerced. God respects man's free will and expects that by choice we apply ourselves to the influence of love.

Gifts and abilities are attractive and fantastic but as we see in the scripture we're studying today, without love we're nobodies. So, what ever gifting, talents,calling or revelation one may have, it is as good as a house built on sand if it lacks the foremost material of love.

We do not know how truly amazing our gifts and abilities can be until we surrender them to God's true love. After all said and done what matters most is love. Someone once said that the decision to love is just like the decision one makes to yield his ways to God Almighty through Jesus Christ. This is so true because just as we deliberately yield to God daily in our walk with Him, when walking in true love also we choose daily to always love come what may.

In loving, we do not get discouraged despite the fact that sometimes the more we love, the more it seems we're less loved back and appreciated. Love keeps pressing and enjoying making a difference, deriving its happiness in the happiness of another. True love is calling out today. Everyone should heed this call. I mean everyone excluding none, no matter who you are on the surface of this earth because love is the essence of life.
