The personification of evil // an excuse for not doing good.

What makes us do wrong? Is selfishness or envy a material being? Where will paradise be?

Greetings steeminautas. Here I leave this reflection on good and evil.

Man has always sought to name unknown the things and humanize those forces that escape his understanding. The Greek and Roman mythologies personified each of the human tasks in divine figures. And just as war, love, fertility had their gods. Evil was also represented in a divine form.

Through history Evil has been represented through many figures, Beelzebub. Lucifer, Satan. And many other denominations depending on the culture. Mara in Buddhism, Yama for Hinduism and so in many cultures evil has been personified as the god of death, of hell and the cause of all evils and low passions.

On the other hand in different cultures there are representations of evil. the chupacabra, the sayona, witches and sorcerers who use the forces of evil to inflict pain, grief and fear among mortals.

The Catholic Church gave it other characteristics with the possessions and exorcisms, extending as metaphysical and paranormal forces, which can only be controlled with similar measures. Metaphysical beliefs also make of evil as an external entity that induces humanity to transgress norms and go against good.

In this way evil has assumed human characteristics and has materialized giving it human form.

The world of cinema has also contributed to strengthen this vision. And it is not only the figure of the serpent that seduces you and drives you towards evil, it is that dark side of the force, which became a saga in star war, which as an external entity leads beings to act according to their darker appetites.

And in different ways, man has attributed the influence of evil to external entities, freeing himself in some way from his responsibility for the execution of evil. Deflecting guilt frees you from responsibility and allows you to maintain a pure attitude.

It is difficult for us to recognize the evil that is within us, selfishness and envy, that can consume us and lead us to execute actions that are not plausible.

It is easier to embody evil in other forms and figures, instead of correcting our attitudes. They say that "heaven and hell" are not in another life, but are in our own existence and that we do or build, our heaven or our hell, with our unfolding in this walk in life.

And although we can not deny that there is strength beyond the physical, do not blame everything on those forces and assume a little responsibility in that regard, it is possible that we will build a better world.

Wisely spoken. And i have to say that i agree with you in larger measure. Whether or not there are external force influences on human behavior, i will say nothing, except that, by personifying evil, giving it a physical resemblance, man has an excuse of whom to blame foe what is likely his own failure...
