You Determine It.

A friend walked into the house of another friend. He saw on his center table a fancy vase carefully placed with lot of fine pebbles inside it. He pointed out to his friend that all he needed to put or add to it are flowers because that's actually a flower vase and it is not meant to stay idle.

Another example is that of another friend who visited another and saw a stone like thing very close to his dinning table and he asked him what the stone was for. The friend said he saw it and felt obliged to just keep it. On a closer look, the visiting friend told him that is actually a diamond in its rough state. The attitude of the owner changed towards it from that moment on.

You determine the use of a thing by prior knowledge or your attitude towards it. The value stays the same but the value you place on it increases after the value has been known. If you squeeze a thousand naira note over and over again, it doesn't change into hundred naira, it is still a thousand naira. Not recognising a worth of a thing doesn't diminish the value. You determine what is important to you by how you treat it.

He or she is important to you but you don't create time for him or her? You don't stretch yourself and you do everything only when it is convenient for you? You make him or her an after thought after you have done all you need to do? There are no two ways about it, you don't value that person or place value on that thing enough, if that is your attitude to things.

Be deliberate. Be conscious. Be considerate. Be sensitive. See value, know value. Place value on things that are important to you. Seek to learn if you don't know the value of a thing. Be open to being taught when someone who knows point it out.
